청계천 프로젝트 - 기대다
철, 가변크기, 2008
언제 어디서 세워졌을지 모르는 판자 하나로부터 기인하여 덧대어져 기대고 기대어 작은 하꼬방들이 만들어지고,
비좁을 지라도 누군가에겐 비바람이라도 피할 수 있는 최소한의 생계 공간이 되고, 일터가 되고,
세월이 쌓여 결국은 거대한 군집체가 형성되는 것이다.
기생 아닌 공생으로 서로를 지탱해가며 자생적으로 진화해갔던 삶의 복합체가 여전히 도시 중심에 살아 숨쉬고 있지만,
도시의 흉물로 덩치만 비대한 죽은 슬럼가로 전락당하며 소외 받고 마는 청계천 풍경,
사라져가는 것들에 대한 기록이다
Cheonggyecheon Project - Lean

It started with a board. No one knows when it was erected.
Other boards are added to it, and a small shanties are made, and they become a minimal living space to some people where they can protect themselves from the weather no matter how small they are.
They become a workplace for them. With time, they form a huge cluster.
The complex of life evolved spontaneously supporting each other in a relationship of symbiosis, not parasitism.
It is still alive in the center of the city, but Cheonggyecheon degenerated into the eyesore of the city, i.e. a fat slum, and it is alienated,
It is a record of things that are disappearing.
